SCHOOL ACTIVITY ACCOUNT All funds raised by school clubs/athletic teams and classes are to be deposited with the School Activity Treasurer. In order to withdraw funds to pay bills, the treasurer of the organization prepares a payment order in duplicate and has the organization president and faculty advisor/coach sign it. The order is then presented to the School Activity Treasurer who issues a check SCHOOL BASED HEALTH CENTER The mission of the School Based Health Center at Pontiac Township High School is to improve the overall physical and emotional health of students working in cooperation with the existing school health education program and community health care services. We are here to help improve your child’s health to keep your student in school, healthy, and ready to learn. The School Based Health Center is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and Professional Support Staff. The Health Center is funded by a grant from the Department of Human Services with donations from Pontiac Township High School, Humiston Trust, Livingston County Health Department, and others. The Health Center Provides services including: Routine medical care including acute and preventative including treatment for conditions that may cause absence from school (headaches, cramps, upset stomach); administration of all prescription and non-prescription medications; emergency care; immunizations; mental health counseling services (ISU and IHR); laboratory screening; nutrition services; health education including reproductive health education, substance abuse, and violence prevention (in collaboration with LCHD); referrals to other needed services; sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment; pregnancy testing; prenatal counseling and referrals to other healthcare providers. All students may use the School Based Health Center provided they have a parent or legal guardian consent (under age 18). Exceptions include: emergency care; emancipated minors; those covered under the Minors Consent Law. It is extremely important that parents of students with any acute or chronic health problems apprise the Health Center staff of their medical condition and of any medications they are taking. Appropriate forms will need to be completed by your student’s Provider for conditions including, but not limited to, anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, and seizures. Appropriate PTHS staff, faculty, coaches, and bus drivers may also be informed of a student’s health condition which could lead to possible emergencies. Students are allowed to use the School Based Health Center before and after school, during study hall, or during lunch. Appointments can also be scheduled. Students should obtain a pass from their teacher prior to coming to the Health Center. In an emergency situation, students can proceed directly to the Health Center and the office will be notified.
