Upperclassmen Advice By: Summer Negray
Can you believe we are already in October? This means that we have been in school for about three months already! With that being said, here are three pieced of upperclassmen advice that you can carry for the rest of your high school career. Starting off with number one: Do your necessary work for school. I cannot stress this enough! You will not be as stressed if you are not worrying about assignments that are due. But, you have to actually do the assignments. Keep in mind that there are plenty of resources at the school now for you to be as successful as you can be. For example, there is after school tutoring which is a nice library located in the center of the school for all students to make use of it. Number two is a very close second to number one: Know your limits! This can be used pretty loosely. For example, don't take thousands of AP classes because you feel like you have to. Also, don't join thousands of clubs because you can't pick what you want to do. Pick what you think will benefit you most then do those. Take regular breaks and don’t over work yourself to the point of burn out. Number three: Find your people. High school is a big place and you have four years to meet some amazing people and make great memories. You can do this by getting involved by volunteering, playing an instrument and joining a sports team. Just get involved!
PTHS Art Update By: Caroline Paulson
Art this year is off to a great start! The different classes are starting some really interesting projects. Art I is working on ceramics, starting with a textured tile to learn the basics, and then will be moving on to pinch pots, where they will use the skills they’ve learned from the tiles. Art II is also working on ceramics, and are making rattles! They have to use all of the ceramics skills from their previous year of Art, and a few new techniques to get the job done. Art III has been working on pen drawings, where they sketch and outline a drawing from a reference image, and then use their newly learned pen drawing techniques to shade them. AP Art is working on individual sustained investigations for their AP portfolios. Each student has a different theme than each other, and there are some interesting themes! One student is basing their investigation on memories from their childhood and another is focused on temptation. I personally can’t wait to see all of the artwork hung up in the hallways this year, and am looking forward to all of the progress the rest of the art students will make!
Student Section By: Rebekah Hendershott
Student Sections are an amazing way to support the teams and show school spirit, but you have to remember to always bring enthusiasm and respect. The student section is a privilege so make sure you know the rules and how the student section works. Chants are made to support the teams and to have fun, so join in and be loud! There is seniority so know where your section is: Freshman at top and descend to Seniors at bottom. Don’t try wriggling into the other sections, it's rude. The unity in the student section is what will stand out and show strength so know the theme. Most importantly, have fun and make new friends!
Unpopular Opinion By: Kyla Baker
Not everything needs to be spicy! I get wanting some kick to your food, but at some point it's too much. Every recipe calls for something spicy. Smoothies, candy, fruit, and drinks in general do not need to be spicy. Tajin has been popular recently, so popular that companies are making these things spicy! Except for the candy people already were eating candy which is supposed to be sweet… as spicy snacks. I mean it's unreal! I don't have that high of a spice tolerance so maybe that's why I don't like it, but that's not the only reason. Almost all of the spicy food I’ve eaten has either tasted horrible or has made it so I couldn't taste the food I was eating, and that combined with the heat makes the whole experience undesirable. I know some people will be upset because, “Without spiciness, food doesn't taste like anything!!!” This is so not true as you can enjoy a dish, drink, or snack without it burning your mouth. Just saying.
Key Club Update By: Vanessa Kapper
On September 14, the fellow FFA members and officers together held another FFA chapter meeting. During the meeting we started off with new business that will be occurring in this month of October. After the new and past business was adjourned, we had special guests join us for our night. Our FFA state President was greeted as well as the Section 9 President and Vice President. After the meeting, the members played bracket games of corn hole (bags) to finish off the night along with our well-loved square dancing routines! Two of the major events that will be held are the next chapter meeting that will be held on the12th and the FFA National Convention the week of the 25th-28th. At the next meeting, our fellow FFA officers will be making all kinds of food dips for other members to try as competition for who has the best! There will also be pumpkin painting as the night's activity along with board games. The time for the meeting will be at 6:30. Pontiac Key Club has already started off on an amazing note this school year. Key Club is an international, student-led high school organization dedicated to serving both their school and community. For this school year, Key Club was asked to help out with volleyball concessions and student members have already done an amazing job taking time out of their free time to serve their school. The Pontiac Key Club executive board has done some exciting work as well. On September 8th, the new board presented themselves as they had lunch with Kiwanis Club (the adult version of Key Club). Two of our board members, Vanessa Kapper and Christopher Corrigan, had the amazing opportunity to go to the International Key Club Convention at Washington D.C this past summer. Vanessa was excited to present some of her incredible experiences at ICON to Kiwanis Club. Goals of Key Club this year were also announced which are the following: Win awards at the District Convention, get Key Club Instagram presence back on social media, and coordinate at least two inter-club events. Pontiac Key Club is inspired and optimistic to living up to their goals this school year. By: Addisyn McKinney FFA Update

Movie Review
By Dalton Baker
Ghostbusters (1984)
“Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any of your family ever seen a spook, specter, or ghost?” If so, who are you going to call? The Ghostbusters of course! The cult classic film was a very quick hit among movie goers, making a profit on their 30,000,000 dollar budget within only two weeks. This action packed comedy follows the whims of Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) as they study paranormal entities and their subsequent entrapment within a run-down New York firehouse. After an unfortunate incident involving a nosy Walter Peck (William Atherton), all the ghosts that had previously been trapped by the Ghostbusters are released to cause havoc on the streets of Manhattan. Disasters of biblical proportions fall from the sky, and the return of Gozer falls upon our heroes. As it so happens, a ruthless cultist named Evo Shandor had built an incredible paranormal “magnet” that was a catalyst for the lost Hittite god’s rebirth, and it is up to these four to save the world from impending doom. Watching the four iconic actors play off of each other is very entertaining, as they amplify each other's comedic and serious sides in an incredible manner. Overall, the action and witty humor is at its very best throughout the entirety of the movie, and there is never a dull moment when watching this American classic.
