Board of Education Regular Meeting Technology Report: Amy Krause

September 2025

Facilities Updates: Summer 2025 •

PA System Enhancements: In August, a group of faculty and staff assisted in testing the PA system. Several issues were identified and addressed immediately, with remaining fixes scheduled for completion by November 2025. This summer, we added: 18 drop-in ceiling speakers, 6 classroom speakers, 3 outdoor horns • Outdoor Wi-Fi Expansion: New Tachyon Point-to-Point equipment was installed across some exterior buildings, extending our network to the secondary tower atop the main building. This upgrade replaces the previous Mimosa equipment at the following locations: Football Press Box, New Weight Room, Transportation Garage, Student Parking Lot Camera, and Pool • Security Camera Upgrades: Five security cameras were added or replaced, bringing our total to 66 active cameras across campus. Additionally, several more cameras are scheduled for installation this fall in areas with limited visibility to enhance overall campus security. Deployed 30 new faculty/staff laptops as part of Year 3 of our 4-year refresh cycle. • Installed 8 Newline Interactive TVs, totaling 34 units as part of Year 3 of our 5-year classroom technology refresh plan. • Initiated deployment of a new Windows 11 image in preparation for Windows 10 end-of-life (October 2025). Approximately 80% of district devices are now running Windows 11. We are now working through our plan to get the other 20% upgraded by the end of this semester. • Installed 13 new wireless access points (Aps), standardizing all Aps to the same model and firmware version. • Upgraded two on-premise servers, including both hardware and operating systems. • Updated Milestone security camera software from Client 2020 to Client 2025 R2. Staff Acknowledgements: Daniel Fulton: Daniel continues to demonstrate exceptional dedication to our department. His willingness to go above and beyond ensures that student and staff technology issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly. His contributions are deeply appreciated. Staff Professional Development: • Staff members receiving Newline Interactive TVs this summer participated in in-person training sessions. • Staff interested in annotating over Google Slides presentations were provided with a helpful instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5vBU3zm_Uc Other Points of Emphasis We successfully completed our 8th year of online registration. Feedback from parents continues to be overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the system’s efficiency and ease of use. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Kelly Fogarty, Jodi Giovanini (who graciously stepped in for Julie Jacobs this year), and Ashton Blaetz for their outstanding support during our online registration process. Their willingness to go above and beyond played a vital role in the continued success of our registration system. Their efforts are truly appreciated. Hardware/Software Updates: Summer 2025 •
