School Improvement / Curriculum Updates:
Business Roundtables – all programs will meet with local businesses to determine areas of strength and growth. These meetings are a foundation for curriculum and contacts for our students. They also allow us to determine if there are any areas we could grow programs.
Community Connections:
Pre- School has opened: The LACC Foundations of Education program is a quality, evidence-based program that is open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our program standards are derived from organizations such as NAEYC (The National Association for the Education of Young Children), ExcelleRate® Illinois and ISBE (The Illinois State Board of Education). We provide a comprehensive curriculum and child assessment system that aligns with the Illinois Early Learning Guidelines for Birth to Three and Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards for Age Three to Five. In our program handbook, our program philosophy states, “It is our goal to create an engaging classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate and inclusive of all learners. We fundamentally believe that play is the method by which children learn and that positive, caring relationships are the foundation for optimal child development.”
This year we are happy to serve 16 local families with a total of 10 children enrolled in preschool and 7 enrolled in our Toddler Program.
Preschool is open to children ages three to five and meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:10 p.m.
The Toddler Program meets on Tuesday mornings from 8:40 a.m. - 10:25 a.m. and Friday afternoons from 12:10 p.m. - 1:25 p.m. This program is open to children ages 18 - 35 months.
Both programs run throughout the school year from September through May, giving students enrolled in LACC Foundations of Education ample time to participate in this hands-on learning opportunity. For example, a student completing 1 year in FOE will have spent approximately 120 hours with children in the classroom and have been responsible for planning and implementing over 30 different lessons and activities.
Notes of Interest:
We have received a $500.00 grant from Architectural Woodworking Institute Education Foundation (AWIEF) Grant for Construction Trades.
Our annual fundraiser took place from August 22 -26. Students raised $19,930.00 profit. These funds will go into the programs for supplies and equipment. We do enjoy a little competition and this year’s winners are: Top sales class: Criminal Justice 1-2 Top individual sales: 1 – Trinity Cheek - C.N.A 3-4 - PTHS 2 – Jade Gordon - Criminal Justice 1-2 - PTHS 3- Kolton Highland – Criminal Justice 3-4 – Woodland

Alumni News:
Michael Hones LACC Program Taken: Law Enforcement I & II Graduation Year: 2015 Current Occupation: Police Officer for Metropolitan Nashville Police Department How did LACC help prepare you for your current line of work, or career life in general? “The LACC provided me an insight on my future career path as a police officer through basic fundamentals that are often overlooked — such as report writing. Through the LACC I learned how to shape myself as a future candidate by structuring a well rounded resume, utilize investigative skills, de-escalation techniques, and first-hand job interviews with active Law enforcement officials.”
What advice do you have for current LACC students trying to plan for their future? “My piece of advice for those planning their future career is to understand how valuable time is. Four years of college may seem long but it tends to pass people by quicker than they plan for. Utilize this time to create experiences but also to set yourself up for your future. Understand what you are doing now and leading up to when you begin applying for jobs will affect you. In leman’s terms: be smart. ”

We have lost some competitive games across all 3 levels. Excited to see how our kids respond moving into week 3 and beyond. Volleyball: The freshmen and JV Volleyball teams have started off the year with a strong showing in all matches. We continue to work on fundamental skills each day in practice and we are seeing improvement each match. The Varsity team has started off their season with an 8-3 record. We played our first conference match this week against PC and came home with an exciting win! The team is a great group of talented athletes who are working incredibly hard. We are very excited about our season! Girls Golf: We are in the thick of our season with many exciting events coming up. We just had our Pontiac Scramble last week, which is the event of the season for many teams. We had 17 teams of participants including our own. We have the Pontiac Invite and the Livingston County Tournament coming up next week which are jam packed days as well. We are excited to see some excellent golf be played with schools coming from the Peoria area, Champaign area and Joliet area- near and far to come and compete in Pontiac. We are having a great start to the season with many players achieving PRs and we have big goals for ourselves. We would like to beat our best team score since Coach Mounce started before the end of the year- 205. We have our sights set and putting in the work! Girls Tennis: The season is off to a great start with girls having won 5 matches so far this season. (5-2) Currently, we have 13 members of the team with 2 joining after two weeks into the season. We are working hard in practice on fundamentals as well as strategy. We have 7 matches left this month, and one tournament. Hopefully with consistent play we can be over .500 in those matches and represent the school well at the end of the Month Invitational. Boys & Girls Cross Country: Boys Golf:
Girls Swimming: The number of girls may be small, but they are mighty individually. They did not win their first meet as a team at home due to numbers, but won every individual event they swam in. The second meet they had was up against two very tough teams in the sport of swimming, Washington High School and Normal Community. Highlights of that meet were the 2 nd place finish in 100 breaststroke by freshman, Kate Lauritsen and 3 rd place finish in the 100 freestyle by Elizabeth Hansen. Every event swam in that meet by Pontiac swimmers would leave 1 or even 2 Normal Community swimmers finishing behind. The girls typically have 2 hour practices after school that include dryland and in-water workouts. The team has two co-op schools participating this year. Brooke Johnson is a senior from Prairie Central and Elizabeth Hansen is a Freshman from Dwight High School, which has had at least one swimmer participating every year since the co-op started in 2005. Deployed 30 new faculty/staff laptops as part of Year 3 of our 4-year refresh cycle. • Installed 8 Newline Interactive TVs, totaling 34 units as part of Year 3 of our 5-year classroom technology refresh plan. • Initiated deployment of a new Windows 11 image in preparation for Windows 10 end-of-life (October 2025). Approximately 80% of district devices are now running Windows 11. We are now working through our plan to get the other 20% upgraded by the end of this semester. • Installed 13 new wireless access points (Aps), standardizing all Aps to the same model and firmware version. • Upgraded two on-premise servers, including both hardware and operating systems. • Updated Milestone security camera software from Client 2020 to Client 2025 R2. Staff Acknowledgements: Daniel Fulton: Daniel continues to demonstrate exceptional dedication to our department. His willingness to go above and beyond ensures that student and staff technology issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly. His contributions are deeply appreciated. Staff Professional Development: • Staff members receiving Newline Interactive TVs this summer participated in in-person training sessions. • Staff interested in annotating over Google Slides presentations were provided with a helpful instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5vBU3zm_Uc Other Points of Emphasis We successfully completed our 8th year of online registration. Feedback from parents continues to be overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the system’s efficiency and ease of use. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Kelly Fogarty, Jodi Giovanini (who graciously stepped in for Julie Jacobs this year), and Ashton Blaetz for their outstanding support during our online registration process. Their willingness to go above and beyond played a vital role in the continued success of our registration system. Their efforts are truly appreciated. Hardware/Software Updates: Summer 2025 •
