Board Report August 2025

Evacuation Point Control and Coordination Pontiac Junior High School has been designed as an evacuation point for Pontiac Township High School. When informed of a crisis situation, or when directed to evacuate, classes will proceed to the designated evacuation point. Evacuation may be accomplished by school bus or other means arranged by Law Enforcement. (Alternate Sites: Boys and Girls Club and/or Recreation Center) Police designee will function as the overall coordinator of each designated evacuation point. The coordinator will report to Law Enforcement and Administration as soon as is practical and as often as necessary to provide situation reports. No student will be released unless authorized by Law Enforcement and Administration. When release is authorized, staff will document the name of the released student, the time of each student’s release and to whom the student is released. Identification and signature will be obtained from each parent or guardian who accepts a student. Media Policy The Superintendent or designee will coordinate with police media liaison for any authorized on-scene media releases. All other staff will direct media inquiries to the District Office or the designated location. No staff or student will be allowed to speak with the media. Crime Scene Management Staff members will all be responsible to assist Law Enforcement with the preservation and integrity of evidence associated with any crime committed during the crisis. No staff member should enter the crime scene unnecessarily or allow any other person to unnecessarily enter any crime scene. No items should be moved or touched unnecessarily inside an area which has been or may be designated as a crime scene. Post Crisis Plan When the immediate crisis has passed, when students have been released and when directed by Administration, all staff will report to the auditorium or library for initial debrief instructions. All staff will participate in administrative and crisis debriefs as directed by the Administration. All students and staff will remain at the evacuation point until release is authorized by Law Enforcement.

All staff will provide a written report to the Administration. The report will document in chronological order the actions taken and observations of each staff member beginning with first notice of the crisis situation.
