Food Service and Lunchroom Supervisors The District hires adults to supervise lunchrooms in all schools primarily to make sure that students eat their lunch in a safe and protected environment. Specifically, lunchroom supervisors reduce both intimidation and fights, throwing and spilling food and drinks, as well as improve the timely response to unsafe situations, including crisis situations. Food service workers ensure against contamination, improper storage and handling of food, and improper and unsafe use of mechanical kitchen devices. Given data on accidents and other liability risks. Bus Drivers and Aides A Transportation Manager inspects and maintains buses in safe condition and supervises the transport of students in special high-risk situations. As needed, bus aides reduce intimidation and fights, assure students remain seated and act appropriately, and assist younger students or those with special seating devices. Bus drivers undergo training which meets state, federal and company requirements. Bus drivers perform the same bus safety activities as bus aides. School Nurses School Nurses are contracted through Livingston County Health Services as a school based health center. While their primary responsibility is to maintain health records and to provide specific health related services to sick or injured students and staff, the portion of their time devoted to emergencies, communicable disease, and avoiding and minimizing individual accidents as well as school wide negative outcomes are included in the Plan. Student Counselors and Social Workers School Counselors and Social Workers are responsible for the safety of students and staff with respect to monitoring and guiding student behavior and personal relationships to reduce intimidation and fights or other inappropriate or self-destructive conduct. While their primary responsibility is academic guidance, the portion of their time devoted to avoiding and minimizing inappropriate student behaviors, individual emergencies, and harm to self or others are included in the Plan. Evaluation and Training All staff participate in training required by the state and federal governments through on site, on line, and other types of professional development. Food service, custodial/maintenance, and other staff have their work procedures and activities evaluated by safety experts and consultants and staff attend specific safety training associated with their job duties.

Crisis Response The District maintains Crisis/Emergency Plans and complies with all required safety drills.

Construction, Maintenance & Inspections

Facilities The Facilities Director coordinates the maintenance and inspection activities of District facilities and grounds.
