Ghostbusters (1984)
“Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any of your family ever seen a spook, specter, or ghost?” If so, who are you going to call? The Ghostbusters of course! The cult classic film was a very quick hit among movie goers, making a profit on their 30,000,000 dollar budget within only two weeks. This action packed comedy follows the whims of Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) as they study paranormal entities and their subsequent entrapment within a run-down New York firehouse. After an unfortunate incident involving a nosy Walter Peck (William Atherton), all the ghosts that had previously been trapped by the Ghostbusters are released to cause havoc on the streets of Manhattan. Disasters of biblical proportions fall from the sky, and the return of Gozer falls upon our heroes. As it so happens, a ruthless cultist named Evo Shandor had built an incredible paranormal “magnet” that was a catalyst for the lost Hittite god’s rebirth, and it is up to these four to save the world from impending doom. Watching the four iconic actors play off of each other is very entertaining, as they amplify each other's comedic and serious sides in an incredible manner. Overall, the action and witty humor is at its very best throughout the entirety of the movie, and there is never a dull moment when watching this American classic.
