The principal will notify the parent/guardian if the fee waiver request has been denied, along with the appropriate appeal process. If you have questions regarding the fee waiver process, you may contact the building principal at (815) 844-6113. Pursuant to the Hunger-Free Student’s Bill of Rights Act, the school is required to provide a federally reimbursable meal or snack to a student who requests one, regardless of whether the student has the ability to pay for the meal or snack or owes money for earlier meals or snacks. Students may not be provided with an alternative meal or snack and the school is prohibited from publicly identifying or stigmatizing a student who cannot pay for or owes money for a meal or snack. EMERGENCY DRILLS Safety drills will occur at times established by the school board. Students are required to be silent and shall comply with the directives of school officials during emergency drills. There will be a minimum of three (3) evacuation drills, a minimum of one (1) severe weather (shelter-in-place) drill, a minimum of one (1) law enforcement drill to address an active shooter incident, and a minimum of one (1) bus evacuation drill each school year. There may be other drills at the direction of the administration. Please report to the Guidance Department for assistance. STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE Student accident insurance is available for purchase by every student enrolled at PTHS. Athletes are required to carry a policy or have an insurance waiver on file. According to a schedule of benefits listed in the policy, some expenses incurred in an accident suffered while in school, while in an authorized school sponsored trip, and while traveling to or from school are covered. If you have school insurance and sustain an injury, report it at once to the office and obtain a claim form. It is the student’s responsibility to take the claim to the doctor and see that it is processed. LOST AND FOUND A lost and found area will be maintained in the main office. Students are encouraged not to bring valuables or excessive amounts of money to school. All items unclaimed at the end of the school year will be donated to charity. NON-CUSTODIAL REQUEST FOR RECORDS If a non-custodial parent would like to receive copies of report cards, progress reports and discipline referrals, they need to submit a written request. The request should be directed to the Principal. ASBESTOS NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES, AND PARENTS In accordance with federal regulations (45FR61987) Pontiac High School is required to notify all students, employees, and parents, that friable asbestos is present in some areas of the building. A program has been implemented to ensure that the material is maintained in warning to the students . HOMELESS STUDENTS

The district maintains a registry of parents and guardians of students who have registered to receive written or telephone notification prior to the application of pesticides and lawn care products to school grounds. To be added to the list, please contact the school. Notification will be given before application of the pesticide and lawn care products. Prior notice is not required if there is imminent threat to health or property
