Board of Education Regular Meeting Technology Report: Amy Krause

Facilities Updates:

• All new IP phones and outside SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) lines are now fully installed, eliminating our dependence on outdated analog copper lines. This project began last fall, and the final installations — including the greenhouse/storage area and the new weight room — were completed in August. • In September, we began porting our external phone lines to a new provider. To finalize this transition, we still need to port the fax lines, which should be completed by the end of this month. We will also be testing automatic 911 dialing through our fire alarm system.

Hardware/Software Updates:

• The migration to Windows 11 for all administrator, teacher, and staff devices is ongoing. We are currently about 85% complete, with a goal of reaching 100% by the end of the semester.

Staff Professional Development:

• A group of office staff members and I will attend the Skyward User Group Conference in Tinley Park at the end of this month. One of our main goals is to gather information about Skyward’s new software, Qmlativ , which we will need to transition to in the coming years as support for our current system, SMS 2.0 , is phased out.

Other Points of Emphasis:

• Our on-site commercial printer (Epson 8000): o

allows us to print senior banners for athletics across all sports, as well as professional-quality signage throughout the school. o One recent project, in collaboration with Mr. Bohm, involved creating signage for each classroom door that includes: a map with AED locations, identified fire exits, main office and nurse phone numbers, and instructions for dialing 911 from our new IP phones
