Bomb Threat Policy and Procedures
Bomb Threat Telephone Calls What to do if you receive a Bomb Threat call: 1. The person receiving the call is to: a. Notify, by signal, someone in the office immediately that you have a Bomb Scare call. b. Note the time and line on which call came in.
c. Keep talking with the caller as long as possible, asking such questions as: Where is the bomb placed? When will it go off? Why? and anything that you can think of. Talk until the party hangs up. d. Make a full report in writing on the call, including above information as well as description of voice, exact phrases, etc. 2. The person signaled is to: a. Notify a member of the administration. b. Upon request of Administration, call on another line to the Telephone Company, reporting the call and the line on which it came. c. Upon request of Administration, call on another line the Police Station and inform them the high school has received a bomb scare call.
3. The administrator will call the police or fire department if needed: Police - 844-5148, Fire Department - 842-3225, Emergency – 911
4. Students are to be evacuated from the building (not dismissed from school). Evacuation orders will be given over the intercom system. Upon leaving the building, students are to remain in class groups.
5. If the bomb threat is made before school opens in the morning; no students are to be allowed in the building.
