Board Report August 2025
Inclement Weather
Tornado Warnings A "Tornado Warning" means that a tornado has actually been sighted in the area or its presence has been detected by radar. Following issuance of a "Tornado Warning", persons in the path of the tornado should immediately take safety precautions. The warning will indicate the location where the tornado was discovered, the area through which it is expected to move, and the time periods during which the tornado will move through the area warned. In the event a Tornado Warning is issued for Pontiac, an announcement will be made over the intercom explaining the fact there is inclement weather in the area. Immediately upon hearing the Tornado Warning announcement, the following procedures are to be followed by the staff members: 1. All classroom teachers will stay with their classes and escort them to the corridor outside their room, except: a. All P.E. classes (when indoors) are to move into their respective locker rooms. Use the shower areas. If your classes are outside, report to the Natatorium and go into the locker room hallway. b. Pool: All females line up along the girl's locker room wall. All males line up along the training room wall. 2. All personnel, students, and staff are to move to the assigned corridor. All other students who are moving from their classroom to an assigned safety area are to sit on the floor with their backs against the wall, heads between their legs, and hands covering their heads. 3. Teachers need to be assertive in directing students to appropriate locations. You are responsible for your own students and other students in your area. 4. Close the fire doors. 5. Close the classroom doors.
An administrator or designee may use the intercom system to give further instructions.
The following high hazard areas must be evacuated immediately: Library, Auditorium, Music Dept., Gymnasium, 2nd floor in LACC, and Pool.
