Crisis Incident Response Superintendent / Chief of Police or Designee
Media Coordination
1. Meet with the Chief of Police or designee, to confirm the dissemination of a joint press release. 2. Meet with the Principal if possible to get who, what, when, where, and why, pertaining to the incident. 3. Draft a press release. Press release should be proofed by the Superintendent and Chief of Police. 4. Meet with the press and read the first press release. (No questions are to be answered, but next press conference time will be given.) 5. Meet with the Principal periodically to obtain information updates. 6. Continue drafting press releases, mutually proofed and disseminated at regular intervals. (Vary the time between releases to keep the media in their designated area.) 7. After the incident is over, prepare for a final press conference with the Chief of Police and Principal.
