“Hold” Your response sets the tone. Be calm and be the leader. 1. Check hallways, close and ensure your classroom door is locked. 2. Continue teaching your class until further notice. 3. Keep students calm and occupied while awaiting further information.

4. Class Status Report: complete only if instructed to do so by administrative announcement. 5. No one leaves your room - No Exceptions . When appropriate, an “all clear” announcement will be made for all “Hold” situations. 6. If a crisis occurs in your room/area during a “Hold”: a. Make notice of the situation by calling out to fellow teachers and using the classroom phone or intercom to inform the main office. b. If available, use a security radio to contact the main office and/or administration. c. If the situation merits; call 911 using the classroom phone or any available cell phone.
