Lockdown

Your response sets the tone. Be calm and be the leader. If you cannot safely leave the building : 1. Alert people of the impending threat.

2. Lockdown immediately and secure the area you are located (lock doors, barricade doors, turn off lights and fill out the Class Status Report). Keep all students away from doors and windows. Do not let students leave the room or use cell phones. 3. If needed, inform the police by calling 911. 4. Be prepared to counter the intruder by using any means necessary to fend off an attack. 5. If the opportunity presents itself, or it becomes necessary to escape/evacuate, leave your room and take your students to a safe location and inform law enforcement of your location. Otherwise, once the situation is safe Law Enforcement personnel will evacuate your room. 6. If you have a student in your room who is not assigned to you, please be sure to communicate that with the teacher and/or Main Office.
