Effect on Core District Mission
Step Three: Implement the selected techniques through the District ’s physical and employee resources, including those contracted for this service. Those assigned to implement these techniques will perform or delegate them, monitor progress, and provide necessary educational, training and supervisory services to insure proper implementation. Fourth Step: Monitor and evaluate selected techniques to determine their effectiveness and improve them where appropriate. Both supervisory and nonsupervisory employees are responsible for evaluating success and performance of these techniques. If deficiencies or inefficiencies are identified, the process of identification, selection, and implementation previously described shall be repeated to continuously improve the Plan.
RISK MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES
Risk management activities and techniques include, among others:
Avoiding injury on District premises or at District-sponsored activities due to the condition of District real or personal property or the actions or omissions of District agents, including appropriate supervision and management of student, employee, and public behavior; Maintaining insurance coverage through commercial, self-insurance, or cooperative means against liability, workers compensation, unemployment, and property damage claims; Funding tort judgments and settlements, tort bond costs, legal fees and other costs of civil rights and tort actions; Implementing security measures for students, staff and property, including police services, cameras, locks, and identification procedures; Inspecting and maintaining school facilities and equipment to insure safe and usable conditions; Repairing and replacing hazardous or unsafe materials, equipment or conditions; Abating asbestos; Implementing blood-borne pathogen controls; Developing school and bus safety procedures and emergency plans; Complying with safety and health regulations, including those related to student health and safety, hazardous materials, radon, lead, occupational safety and health, science and industrial/vocational educational safety, underground storage tanks, and vehicles; Training staff; Responding to accidents or other threats of injuries to minimize injuries; and Establishing appropriate policies and procedures for hiring and operations, including to prevent harassment and discrimination.
